Kurdish minister talks academic exchange
with Italian Ambassador

Region (Iraq) October 10, - The minister for
education and scientific research of Iraqi
Kurdistan, Idris Hadi, has met the Italian
ambassador in Baghdad, Luigi Orsini, to discuss
scientific cooperation between the two parties and
Italy's role in supporting Iraq's tertiary education
system, particularly in the sectors of archaeology
and agriculture.
A source from the regional government said that
Orsini had hinted at the possibility of sending
groups of Iraqi university students to Italy to
obtain doctorates in agronomic sciences,
highlighting that "Italy is ready to sign
collaboration protocols between its institutes and
those in Kurdistan Region of Iraq."
Following the visit of the Italian foreign minister
Massimo D'Alema to Kurdistan in June there has been
an increase in contacts and various Italian
delegations have also travelled to the Kurdistan
region in Iraq seeking to establish contacts in
various sectors.
