Kurdistan parliament discusses Saddam’s former intelligence agents 10.10.2006






Erbil, Kurdistan Region (Iraq), October 9, -– Iraq's Kurdistan parliament discussed on Monday the case of Saddam’s former intelligence Kurdish agents after two local newspapers published two lists of alleged agents.

Iraq's Kurdistan parliament speaker Adnan al-Mofti agreed to a session in camera after requests to this effect were made by some Kurdish legislators.

The media present at the session were ordered out of the session hall after legislators voted by majority to make an in camera session.

The session was delayed one hour and a quarter as electricity went off in the session hall.

Kurdish legislator Ariz Abdulla said “some Kurds worked for Saddam’s intelligence after they benefited from a decree by Iraq’s Kurdish government after 1991.”

Some of the accused hold now senior positions in the Kurdish parties and Kurdistan government, he added.
Iraq’s Kurdistan President Massoud Barazani ordered last week that the case be settled soon
