Baghdad, October
30, --An Iraqi state television presenter and her
driver were found dead in Baghdad yesterday, a day
after they were abducted by unknown gunmen.
Sherin Hamid had hosted programmes on the al-Iraqiya
station aimed at Iraq's Kurdish and Christian
minorities, said Aziz Rahim, an al-Iraqiya
spokesman.
These programmes could have made Hamid a target of
either Sunni insurgents or Shia militias.
The two bodies were found in the Haifa Street
district close to where they had been abducted, said
police lieutenant Maithem Abdel-Razaq.
At least 86 journalists have died in Iraq since
March 2003.
