Soldiers block relief packet to Mardin
ISTANBUL 26.Sept
(DIHA) - The relief packet prepared by the Centre of
Support and Solidarity for the Family Members of
Forcibly Disappeared People (YAKAY-DER) for
Yukarıkurs village of Mardin was blocked by the
Turkish soldiers.
According to the information obtained, as the
soldiers threatened the villagers if they received
the relief packet, the packet was distributed in
Kızılıtepe instead of Yukarıkurs.
The relief packet had been prepared with the
contributions of the people to be given to the
villagers in need in Yukarıkurs, Mardin. There were
dressings for more than 5 thousand villagers in the
packet. The executives of YAKAY-DER had to
distribute the packet in Kızılterpe after they
learned the threats of the soldiers towards the
villagers. The villagers claimed that the soldiers
said "We will make up accounts with you if you
accept the relief."
'The threats became usual'
The chairwoman of YAKAY-DER Pervin Buldan said under
the shadow of the military operations, the threats
to the people came to be considered as normal.
"Parallel to the process, a fear psychology is
desired to be created among the people. Especially
in the last months in which people are being killed,
these threats became usual. This is the system of
the state. They want to oppress people with fears
and threats. Instead, the state should open the ways
for us in this process. We are disappointed after
all our preparations and struggles." said Mrs.
Buldan.
The mayor of Kızıltepe Cihan Sincar commented on the
situation saying "There was no adversity before the
relief packet but later on we heard that some
difficulties were experienced. We are deeply worried
about the event."
Using a biscuit-made cake out of purpose
ADANA
26.Sept (DIHA) - The prisoners in Adana Kürkçüler F
Type Prison was accused of using a biscuit-made cake
out of purpose. The prison administration tagged
stickers saying 'Can not be used out of purpose' on
the biscuits, reported the prisoners.
According to the event in question, the prison
administration decided that Hüseyin Tiryaki, who had
been arrested with the accusation of being a member
of the illegal organization, used the biscuits out
of its original purpose. Upon the accusation,
Hüseyin Tiryaki sent a letter of information to the
Adana Branch of Human Rights Association. In the
letter, he claimed that the guards of the prison
told them they can not made cake by the biscuits and
it is forbidden to split anything in the prison
including the foods and biscuits.
'Do not consider this as a right violation'
Stating that the biscuit case is just one example of
the oppression practices, he said they are being
waited on foot until the counting ends each night.
He also added that those not desiring to be counted
are being hit in the corridors and kept in the cells
for months. Drawing attention to the banning on
sending and receiving letters, reading books and
newspapers he said: "Definitely, this is related to
the political identity and the right to live humanly
in a honorable manner but please do not approach to
this case as if it were a usual right violation.
Think yourselves in our places experiencing the
practices. For example, Think that you are sitting
on a chair for months and out of a sudden somebody
starts to harrow you. What would you think then? As
in other prisones, it is compulsory to send your
shoes for investigation and the prisoners rejecting
that, are not allowed to see the doctors more than
one year. As we are not allowed to see our lawyers,
our defense right is being violated. All these
applications are claimed to be the result of the new
regulations. There is an inhumane practice towards
us."
'The practices will be even harder'
On the other hand, Huseyin's lawyer Tugay Berk
compared the practice to the writings of Aziz Nesin,
a famous political satirist died a few years ago.
The lawyer said the practices are the results of the
new Anti-Terrorism Law Project and after the
completion of the project; the practices will be
even harder.
"In the F Type Prisons, the prisoners, lawyers and
guardians are also forced to undergo inhumane
practices. The prisoners are tried to be left
without identity with the insulation practices. The
struggle of the prisoners to maintain their identity
and opinions are being confronted with the attacks
of the prison administrations. Therefore we are
condemning these illogical oppression practices."
said the lawyer Berk.
