Assassination attempt on Turkish PM by a Turkish
nationalist
Newsdesk, Sep 12
(DozaMe.org) - A Turkish nationalist MHP sympathizer
tried to assassinate the PM of Turkey Tayyip Erdogan
during a school opening ceremony in the city of
Kutahya in western Turkey on Monday.
The Turkish nationalist Mustafa Bagdat (Baghdad)
screamed "What are you doing here? We've been giving
martyrs for 25 years and we lost another 5 soldiers
yesterday!" and charged against the PM but was
quickly stopped by police officers.
The police found a loaded gun with a bullet already
in the chamber concealed in one of the two bread
loafs which Mustafa Bagdat was carrying in a pink
plastic bag. Bagdat admitted that his plan was to
assassinate the Turkish PM 'on behalf of the Turkish
people'. Bagdat's motive was that PM Erdogan had
acknowledged the Kurdish question.
Tayyip Erdogan, who once said "if you don't think
about the Kurdish question, it doesn't exist", later
changed policy and acknowledged the existence of a
Kurdish question during a speech in the city of
Diyarbakir in southeastern Turkey (northern
Kurdistan). The speech was welcomed by Kurdish
groups who saw it as a first step to reconciliation.
The speech outraged Turkish nationalists who
attacked Kurds all around Turkey killing at least
three. Two Kurdish demonstrators were killed in an
attack by Turkish nationalists in the city of
Bozuyuk which is very close to the city of Kutahya
where the assassination attempt was made. A Kurdish
worker was gunned down and killed by Turkish
nationalists in the city of Duzce.
