Gunmen Kill Kurdish member of Iraqi
parliament

BAGHDAD, Iraq
(AP) -
Insurgents killed a Kurdish member of Iraqi
parliament, his brother and the driver of his car
and wounded a second lawmaker in an ambush on their
convoy north of Baghdad , police and officials said
Sunday.
Faris Nasir Hussein, a kurd and member of the
Patriotic Union of Kurdistan party, was killed in
the attack Saturday night, along with his brother
and their driver, said Peshro Ibrahim, a National
Assembly official. |

Ibrahim said another PUK lawmaker, Haidar Shanoun,
was wounded in the same attack near the town of
Dujail, 50 miles north of Baghdad.
BAGHDAD, Iraq Sep 18 (CNN) - An Iraqi member
of parliament was among three people fatally shot
Saturday while traveling in a convoy to Baghdad from
Mosul, and a second member of parliament was
wounded, Iraqi police sources told CNN.
The drive-by shooting occurred at about 7 p.m.
Saturday (1 p.m. EDT), police said. Faris Nasser
Hussein, along with his brother and his driver, were
killed in the attack. Haidar Qassem Shanaw was
wounded and was being treated.
The incident occurred in al-Mashahda, a town about
40 kilometers (25 miles) north of Baghdad.
