Arbil,
Kurdistan-Iraq Proceedings of the first Iraqi
reconstruction Exhibit and Conference, which ahs
been held in Arbil province in Kurdistan region have
been launched. It is the first exhibition of its
kind after the fall of Saddam's regime.
The exhibition in which more than 30 local, Arab and
foreign companies and the president of Kurdistan
region Massaoud Barzani have participated, has been
launched in the presence of a number of the
ministers of the central government and ministers of
the regional government. |

Barzani, president of Kurdistan region said in the
conference's opening speech, "I am delighted to
launch the exhibition of Iraqi reconstruction
exhibition. He expressed his hope that this
conference would be the first step for cooperation
and establishing free economy. He confirmed that
hosting such proceedings in Arbil is a proof on the
historical coherence of Iraqis.
Afterwards, Ibrahim Bahr Al Oloum, oil minister,
said, "The reconstruction process should be launched
from the womb of suffering. Kurdistan is a symbol
for suffering, similar to the south and Al Ahwar.
Bahr Al Oloum has disclosed the existence of a work
plan on behalf of the ministry that prescribe
establishing 15 developmental projects in Kurdistan
region, including the establishment of refineries in
Sulaimaniyah, Dahuk and Arbil and connecting the gas
pipes among Kurdistani provinces and hence
connecting them to the state gas pipeline. He
disclosed the execution of studies for discovering
oil wells in Kurdistani provinces. He pointed out
that oil has been found in these provinces.
The discovery of the first oil well in Iraq has been
in Kurdistan region. Nevertheless, the former regime
has intentionally neglected these regions. Bahr Al
Oloum has stressed the necessity of enrolling the
technical cadres in Kurdistan region in training
courses abroad and that the ministry has
participated in employing 1000 persons from
Kurdistan within its permanent cadres.
