Signing an agreement for political
dialogue between Iraq and the EU

At the UN headquarters
in New York, a meeting was held between Iraq and the
delegation of the European Troika.
The Iraqi party was headed by Mr. Hoshiyar Zebari,
foreign affairs minister, while the European party
was headed by Mr. Jack Straw, the foreign affairs
minister of the UK, which is currently heading the
EU. |

During the meeting, an agreement for political
dialogue between the Iraqi government and the EU was
signed.
The agreement supplies with a framework for
reinforcing and strengthening the relations between
the two parties, especially in the fields of
security, establishing democratic institutions and
reinforcing the role of the law, human rights and
developments and following-up with the
recommendations of the international Brussels
conference on Iraq.
