“The
operation was conducted jointly with the German
side. Just Germany has been a donor-organiser of
this action,” Brazhnikov said.
“Kurds living in northern Iraq have secured all
necessary guarding and safety of the unloading of
the humanitarian cargoes.
The government of Kurdistan looked a reliable
partner, and its attitude had left us confident that
the cargo will be distributed not only among the
population of this province, but also among
residents of central areas of Iraq,” Brazhnikov
said.
He added that the “events in Iraq are seriously
hindering the conduction of humanitarian actions in
Iraq, in the first place, from the point of view of
security”.
Nonetheless, the Emergency Situations Ministry is
going to continue assistance to Iraq.
“Such humanitarian actions will be held both at the
request of the Iraqi leadership and at international
requests under UN auspices,” Brazhnikov said.
He said the Emergency Situations Ministry had
delivered a 10 million dollar worth of the
humanitarian aid to Iraq since 1995.
