Talabani meets a number of world leaders
on the sidelines of the UN meetings

Washington - The
president Jalal Talabani has continued his meetings
with the world leaders on the sidelines of the
meetings of presidents of countries in the UN.
After delivering the speech for Iraq in the meeting,
he met with the Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh
Rasmussen, the UN Secretary-General Kofi Anan, the
Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadi Najad and the
Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Talabani expressed the gratitude of his country for
the role of Denmark and its participation in the
multinational forces. |

On his behalf, the Danish Prime Minister has
stressed the readiness of his country to continue
its efforts in supporting the political process and
its working on its success.
During his meeting with the UN Secretary-General,
the Iraqi president has praised the role of the UN
team working in Iraq and its efforts for supporting
the political process, especially the constitutional
process. In response to an enquiry on behalf of the
Secretary-General, the Iraqi president gave a
detailed explanation of the situation in Kirkuk. He
confirmed that any solution should include all the
constituents of this fraternal city, which reflects
the reality of modern Iraq.
During the meeting between the president Talabani
and his Iranian counterpart, they concentrated on
the mutual relations and the means of assisting Iraq
in confronting terrorism. The talks between the
president Talabani and the Turkish Prime Minister
have dealt with the jest of the speech delivered by
Talabani before the general assembly.
On his behalf, Erdogan has stressed that Turkey is
keen on good relations with Iraq. He stressed that
his country is supporting the Iraqi people in their
efforts that aim at establishing democracy by all
means.
