Moscow - The
Iraqi president Jalal Al Talabani said that Russia
is adopting an unrealistic policy that reflects a
hostile approach towards the situation in Iraq.
In an interview with Kommersant Newspaper, published
on its issue, Talabani clarified that Moscow is
viewing Iraq through its relations with the United
States. He criticized Moscow's desire to see the
American forces leaving Iraq, in specific.
Talabani wondered, "Imagine that the forces would
leave tomorrow. Then what shall we get afterwards, a
civil war? Who shall stop Iran from invading the
south of Iraq? Who would prevent Turkey from
entering the north of the country?"
It is worth mentioning that last month, the Russian
president, Vladimir Putin, considered that it is
necessary for scheduling a gradual withdrawal of
foreign forces from Iraq.
