Nusaybin escorted martyred HPG hero to Qamishlo
Newsdesk, Aug 29
- Another Kurdish city rose up to escort a martyred
HPG guerrilla to his last rest. Ten thousand Kurds
in the city of Nusaybin in northern Kurdistan
(southeastern Turkey) escorted martyred HPG
guerrilla Mesut Isa (Ferhat) to the border with
western Kurdistan (northern Syria).
Mesut Isa was martyred in a clash with security
forces in town of Macka in the Black Sea province of
Trabzon in northern Turkey. Turkish officials were
planning to quickly bury the body of Isa in a
graveyard for the unknown, but a delegation
consisting of four DEHAP officials and Isa's father
Isa Huso, claimed Isa's body and brought him back to
Kurdistan.
A huge crowd of ten thousand people welcomed the
delegation in Nusaybin chanting slogans in favour of
the Kurdish resistance movement PKK, its armed
forces HPG and its leader Abdullah Ocalan. Posters
of Isa and flags of PKK, TECAK (youth branch of the
PKK), KONGRA-GEL and the Confederalist flag was
carried by the procession.
The body of Isa was washed in the Veli mosque on the
Yenituran street in Nusaybin. People outside the
mosque chanted slogans as "This is not Trabzon, this
is Nusaybin!", "Martyrs are immortal" and "Nusaybin
valley, the Apoist valley!".
Isa's body was then wrapped in a 5-meter-long
Confederalist flag (green background with a red star
inside a sun) and the procession continued to the
border, with the people singing the Kurdish march
song 'Herne Pesh' (Move Forward). A delegation from
the city of Qamishlo met the crowd and Isa's body
was given to them under ear deafening "Martyrs are
immortal" (Shehid Namirin) chantings.
Mesut Isa is going to be buried in his hometown of
Qamishlo in western Kurdistan.
Thousands march for HPG in Beshiri
Newsdesk, Aug 28
- Thousands of Kurds demonstrated in Beshiri, near
Batman in northern Kurdistan (southeastern Turkey),
against Turkish military operations against the
People's Defence Forces (HPG). The demonstrators
gathered outside the office of DEHAP in Beshiri on
the third day of the military operations near the
town.
After the gathering outside DEHAP:s office, the
demonstrators started to move towards Tepecik, a
village that is in the area where military
operations were conducted although HPG have
announced that it will carry out a one-month cease
fire. While marching towards Tepecik the
demonstrators chanted slogans as "The guerrilla is
the people, the people are us" and "Long live leader
Apo".
Tension rose when Turkish soldiers stopped the
demonstration march close to the village. A short
clash took place when soldiers tried to scatter the
demonstrators with truncheons and tear gas.
After a short mediation between DEHAP officials and
Turkish army commanders, the army side promised to
end their military operations if the demonstrators
would pull back.
In a statement issued by the HPG Commandership
Headquarters, the guerrillas accused the Turkish
Armed Forces of trying to take advantage of the
one-sided cease fire issued by them. The HPG
Commandership pointed to the fact that moreTurkish
military operations have been conducted after HPG
took the decision for a temporary cease fire than
before.
