commission is established for determining the
problems in the prisons in Van
VAN (DIHA)
21.Aug.- Human Rights Association Van branch and Van
TUYAD-DER together established a commission to
determine the problems in the prisons in Van.The
commission will apply to the office of governor and
the director of public prosecutions to take
permission to make investigations in the prisons.
Human Rights Association Van branch and TUYAD-DER
formed a commission to fix the problems in prisons,
in Van. The commission, including six people, is
going to apply for permission of the office of
governor and the director of public prosecutions.
Van TUYAD-DER president Adil Kotay drew attention to
the fact that, recently the number of the complaints
about the problems in prisons has increased. Upon
the complaints from the families, Kotay, saying they
established a commission with Human Rights
Association Van branch, said "After we get the
permission from the office of governor and the
director of public prosecutions, we are going to
make investigations in the prisons in the region,.
If we can get the permission and make the
investigations, we will deliver the results as a
report to the public opinion.
Municipalities indebted will not be donated
VAN (DIHA) 21.Aug.-The municipalities applying for
40 million euro, denoted by UN under the East
Anatolia Development Program (DAKP) to be spent for
the development of Van, Hakkari, Muş and Bitlis,
were asked to send documents about their SSK and tax
dues. The mayors say the municipals are in dept and
it is impossible to give any document.
East Anatolia Development Program (DAKP) was started
to decrease the development level differences
between the regions, to ensure sustainable social
and economic development. The program is the first
regional implementation program supported by
financial aid before UN accession. DAKP, aided 40
million euro by UN, carries on its studies in the
region, coordinated by the State Planning
Organization (DPT).
The applications got accelerated
Many companies, individuals and associations
prepared their projects and applied for the
donations after the explanations by DAKP. Most of
the applications were made by municipalities
indebted, especially those of DEHAP which can't get
the necessary aid from the state. Especially Hakkari,
Şemdinli, Yüksekova, Malazgirt, Bulanık
municipalities applied for the donations. The
municipalities have prepared and presented their
projects of crucial needs, especially about family
and child development, infrastructure, treatment
systems. The municipalities are waiting for their
projects to be accepted, but it was announced that
the municipalities in dept won't be given donation.
