Religious Leaders of Sadr Movement Freed
(Al-Mada)
The central criminal court freed Mustafa al-Yaqoobi and Riad al-Noori, top religious leaders of the Sadr movement, after finding them innocent. Lawmaker Fattah al-Sheikh said the delay in freeing them was not due to legal reasons but due to political pressures against the Sadrist current leaders to oblige them to change their views about the American forces. The last meeting between Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Ja'afari with Muqtada al-Sadr had nothing to do with the issue of freeing them but they discussed the political and service issues in general.
