Eight guards killed, 15 injured as Iraqi
president’s convoy assaulted

BAGHDAD: Eight bodyguards of Iraqi President
Jalal Talibani were killed and fifteen others
injured when his motorcade of 15 vehicles was
attacked; however, the president was not in his
vehicle at the time of attack.
Iraqi police official Farhad Talibani said that the
president’s vehicle was attack at a time when it was
en route to Kurdistan.
The police officer confirmed that at least eight
bodyguards were killed and fifteen others injured in
the assault.
The injured were rushed to a hospital in Kirkuk for
medical treatment.
