5,000 in southern Kurdistan protested against the regime in Iran 15.8.2005

Iran-Kurdistan, Aug 14 - 5,000 people attended a demonstration in Lewce in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) arranged by the Kurdistan Democratic Solution Party (PCDK) to protest against the Iranian regime's oppression of the Kurds in eastern Kurdistan (northwestern Iran).

"The Kurds in eastern Kurdistan are being oppressed by the regime for wanting their freedom. Every Kurd in every part of Kurdistan wants its freedom. This has frightened the Iranian regime and they have now stepped up the attacks against the Kurds.", PCDK's president Dr. Faik Gulpi said in his speech to the demonstrators.

"Every Kurd in every part of Kurdistan has the same pain. The Kurds need their unity more than ever. We must all stand united against the attacks on the Kurdish people. The Kurds must support each other", Dr. Gulpi continued.

Demonstrators also chanted slogans in favour of the Kurdish uprising in eastern Kurdistan and for the imprisoned Kurdish national leader Abdullah Ocalan. Slogans as "Our sun [Ocalan] is never alone!", "North, south, east, Ocalan leader of the nation!", "Again, Again, Uprising, Our leader is Ocalan", "We are with the eastern Kurds!" and "The eastern Kurds are never alone!" were shouted by the demonstrators.
