Arresting the Network of "Ansar Al Islam"
that plotted for assassinating Barzani

Baghdad - Kurdish security sources have
disclosed the arrest of a terrorist group, under
Ansar Al Islam, which plotted for the assassination
of the Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani, the elected
president of Kurdistan region.
These sources pointed out, "11 members of the
network have been arrested, while others, who are
suspected of being involved with this group, are
being chased."
The same sources clarified, "The network members
managed to sneak to Salah Eddin summer resort, where
the headquarters of the president Barzani is. They
managed to hide among people to plan for executing
the assassination." The sources said, "The majority
of the detainees have confessed the details of the
plot aiming at assassinating Barzani. |

Among
the detainees are a number of close persons to the
members of sensitive authorities under the
Kurdistani democratic Party, which is headed by
Barzani, in addition to the relation of one of the
network members with a driver from Barzani security
staff."
