confirmed, "A helicopter has carried Barzani and a
delegation that included representatives of
Kurdistani national, democratic and Islamic parties,
and Turkmen representatives from Salah Eddin in
Erbil. The delegation has first arrived at the city
of Kirkuk, but they returned to Salah Eddin summer
resort."
He added, "Without the presence of Barzani, the
hoped for results and objectives from the meeting of
the blocs and party leaders, would not be reached,"
sp as to settle the disagreements that hinder the
accomplishment of the Iraqi constitution draft.
He noted, "The constitution in a community with
diverse classes like Iraq should be drafted in
accord, not on basis of the majority and minority."
He expressed his optimism for the results of the
anticipated meetings. He said, "We should adhere to
optimism, as without it we would not launch any
positive acts. We should reach agreement forms for
solving our constitutional crisis."
He denied the existence of any American pressures on
the Kurds, but he said, "I do not deny the existence
of foreign suggestions, as under the conditions
witnessed by a country like Iraq, suggestions come
on behalf of friends, Arab, regional and foreign
countries, in addition to the ideas of Kurdish
parties."
Before the leaders meeting on Sunday, the Iraqi
president Jalal Al Talebani has confirmed "the
existence of American deliberations and efforts to
bring views closer, so as to represent all
constituents of Iraqi people and for an agreement on
the constitution." He denied the existence of
American pressures on the Kurds, with regard to the
issue of drafting the constitution.
Talebani said, "There is no problem with regard to
the Federation of Kurdistan, but there is a problem
with regard to the federation of the south. We are
insisting on continuing meetings until settling
these disputes, without denying the role of any
person or party in Iraq."
