Barzani: What we are demanding is less than our right 3.8.2005

Erbil – Mr. Masud Al Barzani, president of Iraqi Kurdistan region, announced that he requested the Kurdish delegation, which is currently present in Baghdad to return to Kurdistan, to discuss what has been agreed upon, with the members of the committee of drafting the Iraqi constitution, studying the relating points, and reevaluating the situation to take the necessary directions.

He confirmed the existence of radical issues for the Kurds "which cannot be negotiated".

Mr. Al Barzani's statement came after a meeting for the political bureaus of the two Kurdistani parties (Kurdistani Democratic and Kurdistani National Union), which was held the day before yesterday and continued until late in the evening to study the issue of drafting the Iraqi constitution.

The president of Kurdistan region said to reporters, "What we are demanding is the least of rights, as our rights are more than this. The members of our delegation are supposed to convince the Arab brothers to accept the demands of Kurds, as this is a positive matter, instead of standing against these preliminary and fundamental rights, which cannot be negotiated."

He continued, "There are radical issues that cannot be negotiated, including: Kirkuk issue, natural resources, the federation, the Bishmarkas, and the right for setting laws in Kurdistan parliament."
