Talebani has urged the Arab Sunnis in Iraq to create
a reference for them. He called their scholars to
announce situations that condemn "black terrorism
and all current criminal acts in the country."
A statement issued by the Iraqi presidency council,
stated that during his reception of the new
president of the Sunni Mortmain Department, Sheikh
Ahmed Abdel Ghafour Al Samera'e, and members of the
mortmain, Talebani said, "We are stressing the
significance of the existence of Sunni reference
during this stage of Iraqi history." |

Talebani pointed out that he would not allow
"assault against the rights of Arab Sunnis". He
confirmed "the significance of national accord in
all fields and the adoption of strong cordiality and
civilization coexistence among the constituents of
the Iraqi people, in addition to the sovereignty of
law in constructing the new Iraq."
Talebani has called the Arab Sunni scholars to adopt
situations that are stricter with regard to
"terrorism and all criminal acts". He addressed the
delegation, "You are in charge of the responsibility
of enlightenment and clarifying the facts before
your people and confront this distortment of cause
by terrorists in the name of Islam and Muslims."
As regards the arbitrary detention that the members
of the delegation have complained from, Talebani
said, "We have to put an end to these acts. From now
on, no person is to be arrested, unless upon a
judicial order and in the presence of the mayor of
the region."
Talebani has promised the members of the delegation
"to retrieve the real estate owned by the Sunni
Mortmain, returning the Sunni mosques to their
people, and exerting utmost efforts for defending
the sacredness and holiness of mosques."
On his behalf, Al Samera'e, president of Sunni
Mortmain department, has condemned "all forms of
terrorism and criminal acts that target the
innocent."
