Turkey: Bomb explosion in Diyarbakir 3 policemen injured 2.7.2005

Turkey-Kurdistan (Kulp): Three policemen have been injured in a bomb explosion in Diyarbakir's Kulp District.

According to information obtained, police forces received information about a suspicious package in Yenimahalle's Ucyol region. The package exploded when a police team arrived at the scene.

Three policemen were injured in the explosion. The injured policemen were taken to hospitals in Diyarbakir.

A large-scale operation has been launched in the region.

Anatolia News Agency

Turkey-Kurdistan
, Three Turkish policemen were wounded on July 2 in the city of Kulp in the Amed (Diyarbakir) province when a package they were investigating exploded, according to the Kurdish news agency DIHA.

Police units from the Qulp Police Department had been informed of a suspicious package laying on the ground in the Üçyol quarters of the 'Yeni Mahalle' district in the city of Kulp (Qulp). When the units got close to the package, it exploded and seriously wounded three policemen.

The bomb is believed to have been a booby-trap targeting the policemen that got informed of its existence. Even though nobody has claimed the attack, it's a big possibility that it was carried out by the Kurdish militant urban organization TAK (Kurdistans Freedom Falcons).

TAK made a statement to the Kurdish news agency MHA earlier this week vowing to increase the attacks against Turkish military, industrial and economical targets in urban areas all over Turkey. In the statement TAK requested tourists to not visit Turkey. "It is not safe for you anymore", the TAK official was quoted saying..
