DIYARBAKIR (DIHA) -In the southeastern city of
Diyarbakır, a group of some 50 people who call
themselves the "Apoist Youth Initiative" held a
demonstration, with a huge poster of Kurdish
People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and torches, to
protest both military operations conducted in the
East and the Southeast and isolative implementations
imposed upon Öcalan.
In the demonstration, police used arms to disperse
protestors while a police vehicle damaged partly by
a molotov cocktail. |

At
around 21:00 yesterday, 50 objectors calling
themselves the "Apoist Youth Initiative" marched
from Hasırlı Mahallesi to Mardinkapı with torches,
carrying a huge picture of Kurdish People's Leader
Abdullah Öcalan, opening the flags of Democratic
Confederalism and chanting "Again, again rebel
again; our leader is Öcalan",
"We cast the world with Öcalan down over your head",
"Hey leader, we are by your side with our blood and
lives", "HPG, go to the front to take revenge",
"Blood to blood; we are with Öcalan", "Life without
Öcalan is impossible", "Martyrs are immortal" and
"Live long Leader Apo".
Youths closed main roads to traffic using molotov
cocktails, held a long march from till Gazi Street
in Mardinkapı, were supported by people around with
cheers and started marching again towards
Kervansaray Hotel when they came to Gazi Street.
The police who wanted intervene in demonstrators
were responded with stones and molotoc cocktails; a
police vehicle damaged partly by a molotov cocktail.
Demonstrators began to disperse into cross streets
when police opened fire on objectors.
Meanwhile, police blocked the entries to Mardinkapı
and Keçi Burcu, blockaded the neighborhood and made
ID controls at the beginnings of main road and
conducted raids on a number of houses in the
district following the incident.
