Object to "Arab Nation" Description
(Al-Adala)
Mahmood Othman, a Kurdish Alliance lawmaker in the
Iraqi National Assembly, said Wednesday that the
Kurdish leadership has objections to the
constitution if it states that Iraq is part of the
Arab nation. He asked for compatibility regarding
the Arabic identity of Iraq. He added that the Iraqi
interim law states that Iraq consists of many
ethnicities and nations and that the Arabic part is
part of the Arab nation. But he refused to count the
Kurds as part of the Arab nation. He added that
building a strong and united Iraq should based on
options that satisfy all the spectrums of Iraq.

PM's Approval Still Needed for Kirkuk Board
(Al-Ittihad)
Hameed Majeed Moosa, secretary general of the Iraqi
Communist Party and head of the committee on
normalizing Kirkuk, said he is waiting for Prime
Minister Ibrahim al-Ja'afari's approval for the
formation of a board to normalize the issues in
Kirkuk. He said the board will include the ministers
of interior, planning and development,
municipalities, agriculture, and migrant and
displacement. There will also be four ministers from
the Iraqi Kurdistan government of the Erbil and
Suleimaniya administrations. Moosa anticipates
Ja'afari to approve the board soon, and that will be
the first step towards applying Article 58 of the
interim law, which concerns the normalization of
issues in Kirkuk.

Head of Sunni Endowment Replaced
(Al-Mutamar)
A close source to the head of the Sunni Endowment,
Adnan al-Dulaimi, said he was replaced by Ahmed
Abdul Ghafoor al-Samarai. The source, Yaser Izzul
Deen, said the Council of Ministers issued an order
dismissiing al-Dulaimi from his post due to his old
age.

New System for Oil Products Distribution
(Al-Mashriq)
The Oil Ministry announced a new system to
distribute oil products, especially kerosene and
cooking gas, to the people by a card similar to that
of the food rations. The purpose is to guarantee
fair distribution of oil and reduce the exploitation
of by some entities that sell those products in the
black market. Ministry spokesman Asim Jihad said the
ministry will implement the new system before
October.

Airport Communications Official Abducted
(Addustour)
Police sources said unknown assailants have abducted
the director general of the Communications
Department at Baghdad International Airport, along
with two of his staff, while they were on their way
to their office. The sources added that the unknown
armed group were riding in three modern, fancy cars
and stopped the car of the Director General Mahir
Yaseen Jasim in the al-Dawoodi neighborhood. They
kidnapped him, his driver and one other staff
member, but let a woman with them go free.

Death Penalty for Drug Smugglers
(Al-Mada)
The Justice Ministry has decided that the death
penalty sentence and property confiscation will be
the punishment for whoever is convicted of smuggling
drugs or using narcotics. The ministry asked the
National Organization of Drug Elimination to take
quick measures to control and supervise the borders
to stop drugs from entering Iraq. Due to the
security situation, the borders of Iraq were open to
those smugglers who have brought the drug to Iraq.
The number of drug addicts is increasing nowadays.
