Kurdistan to Set Up
Christian Affairs Directorate
(Kurdistani New)
The Sulaimanyah administration of Iraqi Kurdistan
has decided to set up a directorate for Christian
Affairs. The decision came during this week's
meeting of the Council of Ministers.

UAE Companies Invest in Kurdistan

Due to stability and the good security situation, in
addition to the expansion of the reconstructions in
Iraqi Kurdistan, businessmen and companies of the
United Arab Emirates have decided to invest in the
region. An official in charge of public relations in
Sharjah municipality said Kurdistan is similar to
Dubai now, as it has witnesses vast movements in the
fields of rebuilding and tourism, and there is a big
chance for investments there.

Barzani Asks for Law Eliminating Terrorism
(Al-Sabah al-Jadeed)
Iraqi Kurdistan President Massoud Barzani has asked
the National Council of Kurdistan to issue a law to
eliminate terrorism, which he described as an
"international phenomenon." In his meeting with the
clerics, Imams, and preachers of Erbil, he urged
them to play their role in eliminating terrorism,
and asked the media outlets to play their part in
that direction, too. He asked the Ministry of
Endowment of the Kurdistan region to hold a
religious conference to confront insurgents and
terrorism.

Muslim Scholars Head, Sadr Agree on Rejecting
Constitution
(Baghdad)
After his meeting with the young Shia cleric Muqtada
al-Sadr, Adul Salam al-Kubaisi, head of the
Association of Muslims Scholars has rejected writing
the constitution under the occupation. He said the
Americans will interfere in writing it as they did
in the writing of the interim one. Observers think
the meeting of Sadr and Kubaisi represents a
collaboration between them since they both reject
the existence of Americans on Iraqi soil.

Sunnis Return to Constitution Committee
(Al-Mutamar)
Saleem Abdullah, an Iraqi Islamic Party lawmaker and
member of the committee charged with drafting the
constitution, has affirmed the return of Sunni
members after suspending their memberships. He added
that they met Humam Hamoodi, head of the committee,
and Hachim al-Hasani, head of the parliament. They
agreed on all the Sunni requests, especially the
thorny issue of forming a committee to investigate
the killing of two Sunni members last week.

Lawmaker Reveals Coup Attempt
(Al-Bayyna)
Lawmaker Sheikh Jalal al-Sageer has revealed a
conspiracy led by former members of the dissolved
government, insurgents, Saddam Hussein's henchmen,
and secular Shias to overthrow the Ibrahim al-Ja'afari
government. He added that the current government has
a budget deficiency because the former ministers
spent the budget illegally, which drained the
2004-2005 budget. He also expressed astonishment at
the insistence of Kurds to apply Article 58 rather
than Article 71, which gives the provinces full
authority to rebuild their cities and provide their
people the best services.
