PUK, KDP Disagree Over Unification Terms
(Hawlati)
The political bureaus of the Kurdistan Democratic
Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan are
meeting to discuss the unification of the two local
administrations. The KDP wants the Finance Ministry
in addition to the prime minister post, while the
PUK says it should have the Finance Ministry since
the prime minister position was given to the KDP.
The PUK is also trying to decrease the ruling
duration of prime minister so it is not like the
president of the region, who rule for four years. A
source in the committee of unifying the KDP and the
PUK said that each is going to take 9 ministries out
of the 18-ministry cabinet.

(Al-Sabah)
President Jalal Talabani affirmed the necessity of
alliance between the Kurds and the Shia to serve the

inauguration for the Sulaimaniyah Airport, Talabani
also said Iraq needs to keep in touch with the outer
world and the airport will be one of the gates to
that world. He clarified that there will be domestic
flights between Basra, Baghdad, and Erbil along with
international flights to Istanbul, Cairo, Amman, and
Iran.

Constitution Committee to Continue Work
(Addustour)
Humam Hamoodi, head of the committee to draft the
constitution, said the goal of those assassinating
the Sunni members of the committee is to stop the
political process and keep Iraq unstable. He said
they want to spoil the project of the constitution,
which will work as a tent covering all Iraqis. He
added the committee will continue its work despite
some of the Sunni members suspending their
membership. He also said members will be provided
with security and work will resume next week.

Women's Groups Organize Protest
(Baghdad)
Many women organizations and associations have
organized a sit-in at the Firdaws Square, requesting
their rights be mentioned in the constitution. They
reject law 137, which they think violates their
rights. They have asked the United Nations and the
world humanitarian organizations to aid them in
getting their rights. They asked for postponing the
period of discussing the constitution for two months
to allow them to study it. They said they will keep
their sit-in until the government or the National
Assembly respond to them.

and hope they will start visiting Iraq soon. He
