London 07 July, 2005: A suspected Kurd from
Eastern Kurdistan who works for the Iranian
intelligence services, the Ettelaat, was arrested in
Arbil, the capital of South Kurdistan, suspected of
attempting to blow up the premises of an Eastern
(Iranian) Kurdish opposition group, reported the
Kurdish weekly Hawlati on Wednesday.
Liqman Rahmani admitted to his intention to blow up
the base of the Kurdish political group Xebat
(Khabat). In a recorded video tape, of which a copy
was made available to Hawlati, Rahmani states, “I
was sent by the Iranian Ettelaat Forces to Sulemani.
Then the Iranian bases in Sulemani [Qerargah] made
arrangements, such as making TNT and a car available
to me, to arrive in Arbil, do my job and later
return to Sulemani.”
“It is decided that a delegation from Iranian
Ettelaat arrive in Arbil to secure the release of a
number of detained Iranian citizens who have been
arrested for different accusations,” stated Hawlati.
