UN and Kurdistan R. Government’s
Coordinator met in Baghdad

Baghdad, July 7,
2005 - The Special Representative of the
Secretary-General for Iraq, (SRSG) Mr. Ashraf Qazi
met yesterday with the Kurdistan Regional
Governnment’s (KRG) Coordinator to the United
Nations, Dr. Dindar Zebari.
Mr. Qazi and Dr. Zebari discussed how to increase UN
operations in Northern Iraq, and Dr. Zebari
requested further UN assistance in the development
of the Kurdistan Region. Mr. Qazi emphasized the
importance of increased contact between their
offices and ensured the Kurdistan Regional
Coordinator of the full support of the United
Nations.

UN: IRAQI KURDS SEEK
MORE DEVELOPMENT AID
(AKI) Iraqi Kurds are seeking further United Nations
assistance in the development of the Kurdistan
region of their country. The Kurdistan regional
government's coordinator to the UN, Dindar Zebari,
made the request in a meeting in Baghdad on with
secretary general Kofi Annan's special
representative Ashraf Qazi, during which the two
discussed how to increase UN operations in Northern
Iraq.
"Mr Qazi emphasized the importance of increased
contact between their offices and ensured the
Kurdistan regional coordinator of the full support
of the United Nations," the UN Assistance Mission
for Iraq said in a statement..
