BATMAN (DIHA) - Approximately a thousand people,
protesting the isolation in prison and increasing
number of operations, laid a black wreath in front
of AKP Batman Office and made a sit-down action.
The Solidarity Association For Prisoners' and
Convicts' Relatives (TUHAY-DER) Batman office
protested AKP government's prison politics.
Approximately a thousand people gathered in Gulistan
Street and started to march to AKP Batman office
last night. "Ready to Fight but Stand with Peace",
"It does not matter who is in jail for us as long as
prisons and isolation exist" pancardes, Democratic
Confederalism flags and Kurdish People's Leader
Abdullah Ocalan's posters were carried in the march
in which TUHAY-DER and DEHAP administrators and
non-governmental organization representatives
participated.
"We greet the honourful resistance of Kurdistan
Associations Leadership" pancarde and the big
pancarde with Democratic Confederalism flag on it
drew attention in the march. The crowd, shouting
slogans of "AKP, Do not make a mistake, Do not make
us to go to mountains", "Long live leader Apo", "Ocalan",
"No Tayyip No Bush Freedom to Ocalan", "Apo
supporters are coming" and "Youth is Apo's guard",
stopped by the security forces before they reached
to AKP office. After a short argument, TUHAY-DER
Batman Office chairman İslam Koyuncu laid a black
wreath in front of AKP Batman office.
'We condemn AKP politics'
Koyuncu made a statement and said that they
organized the march to make a call to the governing
party. Koyuncu said: "The conditions of prisoners
got pretty worse with the new legal arrangements.
Also operations and clashes still continue. New
funerals come everyday. These are the results of AKP
politics. We condemn the practices in prisons and
AKP politics."
'Ocalan is the most isolated'
Reading the press statement after Koyuncu, TUHAY-DER
Batman Office administrator Mehmet Gidici stated
that an oppressive isolation in prisons is aimed
with the new penalty execution code and said: "It
must be known that Ocalan is the most isolated
prisoner. Ocalan will not be able to pursue
conditions other prisoners have such as telephone,
television and communication. We lay this wreath in
front of AKP office to protest these practices. As
long as these practices continue, our actions will
continue. We want AKP to take into account our call
and to behave like a governing party. We want the
public to be more sensitive about these practices."
Sit-down action
After the statement, the crowd made 5-minute sit
down action, then marched to Gulistan Street and
scattered calmly there.
