Turkey-Kurdistan: Kurds are not the one who wants war 23.6.2005

Jehat Berti / BEHDINAN (MHAnews) – A member of the HPG (People’s Defence Force) and Commander of the Eastern Kurdistan Forces Suleyman Sahin reported that they have taken all the steps required of them and have accused the Turkish media of disregarding and twisting the reality by claiming that the Kurdish side are seeking war.

Sahin warned, “If we really open the way for violence then all of Turkey will become a war zone”.
Member of the HPG Command Council and Commander of the Eastern Kurdistan Forces Suleyman Sahin spoke to the MHA news agency and gave important statements about the increased military operations and the situation in eastern Kurdistan. Sahin, underlined the fact that with the Imrali process Kurdish People’s leader Abdullah Ocalan brought forward peace initiatives, which have to be seen by everybody especially by the Turkish people and the Turkish government. Sahin said the peace efforts are important for the Turkish people as much as Kurdish people in order to bring hope and prosperity to the country. He continued by saying, “we took all steps that are required and expected from us. We insisted on a peaceful and democratic solution in spite of the all the provocations, the loss of some of our friends, the oppression of our people and the continuing isolation and hardship of our leader

"Guerrilla can not be defeated"

Sahin said, “This resulted in great expectations of brotherhood and peace. The Turkish government regarded our consistency towards resolution of the problem by peaceful and political means a weakness in our command force”

Sahin said, “Nobody should take this from their mind, if the guerrillas didn’t use arms, if Kurdish people didn’t show their revolutionary instinct by violence against the Turkish government this does not mean weakness or feebleness on the part of Kurdish people. However, because of the democratic view of Kurdish people and their willingness to solve existing problem with peace and goodwill. We would like to point this out again; The Guerrillas have not lost, and it is impossible for them to loose”

Strong criticism of Turkish media

Sahin strongly criticised the Turkish media, he pointed out that Turkish media “have taken things from other way around” and “are consciously twisting the facts” of the progress towards a democratic and peaceful atmosphere and they are directing public opinion in this perspective.” Sahin said, “Turkish media by twisting the facts are trying to mislead domestic and international opinion by portraying the Kurdish Freedom Movement as being responsible for starting the war in Kurdistan”

Sahin went on “In these cir*******stances all the media organisations who are wishing the solve this problem through peace and brotherhood should understand the recent progress clearly and report as accordingly, we expect this and good media standards expect and regard such a stand. We find it really important to invite the media to report the true reality of the situation”

Sahin, give his views of the military operations and warned that if the military operation do not stop then the war will intensify. Sahin underline that if people want to silence the guns then military operations have to be halted and said, “Every government who have a Kurdish population have to solve this. This is un-escapable. No one can graze themselves by eastern cunning”

Sahin continued by saying, “We can tell you with comfort that we have tactical power and the ability to use it. Also, the technical level and capacity to operate and achieve more then what we have done recently. We can obstruct and stop the Turkish government’s insistence of denial and eliminating terminology by using arms. We have a great force in that sense but because of the line that we are taking, we do not wish to do that. In the 21st century, we do not wish to solve matters by using violence for this reason we are trying to decrease the violence and keep it under control as much as we can. We are trying to dismiss all the violence except legitimate self defence”

If we open the way for war then Turkey will turn into a war zone

Sahin warned, “If we open the way for war then whole of Turkey will turn into a war zone” and he continued his warnings “the Turkish economy could collapse in a short time, the political system can be blocked. We have the power to do this. The status of our guerrilla forces are more then enough qualitatively and in quantity to achieve this. In this respect no one should test the willingness of our guerrilla force”

Sahin stated that they have a belief in solving the issue by democratic means, they have pointed this out many times, and they wish to solve the matters through political and peaceful means.

Sahin said, “From our perspective such a solution will improve the life standards of Turkey and Turkish people will live in ease and comfort.” He continued by saying, “We ask this for all the people in Turkey. Consequently, we invite the Turkish government to use common sense and give up their attitude of denial. If this attitude does not change then middle level war can easily be created by our guerrillas whom are located from Amanoses to the Black sea, Kocgiri to Sivas and Erzincan, Serhat to Mardin, Botan and Zagros.”

Sahin said, they are trying hard not to lose control despite continues operations to obliterate and abuse the Kurdish people. Sahin said “However, it should not be forgotten, that there is a certain limit to patience too. The Turkish government should act keeping this in mind. Otherwise, the Turkish government is responsible for all the heavy consequences. Their irresponsible leaders, people whom perform the dirty war and people whom gain from the war will be responsible for this. History will count these people responsible.”

For not to say “We wish we haven’t lost this much”

He emphasised that the 21st century will push turkey to be more democratic and respectful of human rights and said, “Apocu movement will force Turkey in that respect” he stated that what Turkey is doing is losing and wasting time, he carried on by saying “the Kurdish problem has to be solved” if they do not wish to say in the future ‘we wish we haven’t lost this much, financially and spiritually, we wish we haven’t suffered so much’ then right and common sense steps have to be taken, NOW. To find the solution in the past is a regardless approach by these rulers.”

Sahin reminded them that they already said in the past that if the Turkish government don’t pay attention to HPG’s warnings then they will spread the war against the economic interests and said, “The Turkish government is perpetrating a dirty and merciless war in Kurdistan. If it is necessary, we will target the sources such as economic targets, the armaments industry, the tourism sector, financial organizations and establishments that are feeding this war. We have to cut the veins which give blood and life to this war to minimise the loss of life.”

Sahin warned, “We may turn our attention to the tourism sector” and said, “In this respect the attitude of the Turkish government is important. We did not come up with such a plan instantly. Quite the contrary our wish is to see Turkey with a strong economy, which in a way which benefits her people and serving peace and the democratic future of Turkey. However, unfortunately Turkish leaders are using economic sources for the continuation of this dirty war. On one side there are millions of people who live under the hunger level on the other hand the Turkish government are spending billions to deny, eradicate and oppress the Kurdish people, instead they should use this economy for their people’s happiness and comfort. In the name of humanity, no one should be silence to this. For this reason, whoever calls themselves human should raise their voices. Democratic public opinion should take a stand on this”

Sahin said, “We have no problem with local or international tourists” and continued on the subject saying, “We never targeted these elements in the past and we will not do this in the future. Especially we do not wish to see them hurt. If they are hurt in unwanted accidents then we will be the first people whom feel sorry about it. Consequently, not to see such a bad situations we call on the tourists to choose much safer places for their holidays. We will never target the tourists. However, this depends on the Turkish government’s approach to our leader, Kurdish people and a solution of the Kurdish problem in Turkey and this will determine our future objectives. Another point is that we have never participated in any attacks along these lines. If Turkey continues with their denials and eradication approach then we have the power to paralyse tourism in this country. We can perpetrate attacks and sabotage in all areas of Turkey.”

We can block tourism. However if you pay attention we did not do that yet, we are just warning. Truly, we are expecting from Turkey to act out of common sense and progress to solve the Kurdish problem once for all. Otherwise our warnings will become reality. We would like to point out to local and international tourists that; every penny that you’ve spent in Turkey comes back to the Kurdish people with bullets, chemical weapons, handcuffs, and truncheons, they should know that it comes back with many massacres. Consequently, if you don’t want to be part of the massacres and bullets that are used against the Kurdish people then they should not visit Turkey”

Iran will lose if they don’t solve the Kurdish problem

Finally, Sahin gave us information about level of work carried out in East Kurdistan (Northern Iran). He stated that they believe they have taken up a position, which people should not to look down on and this will open the way to a struggle for democratisation of the country. He continued by saying, “Our main target is to solve the Kurdish problem within the unity of Iran, create a democratic order and bring about freedom in the country. Our positions in this country will pave the way to help that target which I have pointed out above. We will increase our work in this perspective”

Sahin, stated that actual approach of the Iranian government at the moment is not acceptable and warned, “The coalitions which they have entered into with Syria and Turkey and their continued heavy oppression, arrests, clearing of entire villages, and their use of the village guard system against the Kurdish people will not benefit anything or anybody”

Sahin underlines that this approach will pave the way to clashes and in the end, the losing side will be the Iran. He finalised his comments by saying “they are the one in the difficult situation more then anybody else. Iran is under extensive pressure from international public opinion they are just deepening this isolation. If they don’t create internal peace and become democratic then the regime will not last too long. They may stand for a while but the reality of our century will not make it possible to stand forever.”
