Iranian Kurdish Refugees' Committee in Turkey
call for International agencies and human rights
societies about 1200 Iranian Kurdish Refugees'
destiny in Turkey .
We want to draw your attention to a very critical
position which affected and imposed upon 1200
Iranian ex-Northern Iraqi Refugee who all of them
have been recognized as refugees by United Nation
High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) branch of
Turkey since 2004 but so far their dossier thrown to
warehouse and suspected for 4 years without any
clear horizon for their fate.
This vulnerable community was Iranian Islamic
Regime's dissents and members of Iranian Kurdish
oppositions in Northern Iraq.
They were in Northern Iraq for variety times but
then due to precarious security conditions and
protracted delays by UNHCR to find durable solution
for them, these refugees had to take their fate on
their hand and passed the mine littered Turkish
border to approach branch of UNHCR in Van –
southeastern city of Turkey – but they had been
rejected by UNHCR and even not registered by police
station.
According to our past experience, we believe that
whenever UNHCR wants and longs to arrange our
process, Turkish authorities had a good idea and
cobbled the ways. Other than whenever UNHCR hasn't
had convenient view about our situation
unfortunately police has had rough behavior, for
example, when UNHCR branded Iranian Kurdish Refugees
who came from Northern Iraq as Irregular Mover (IM)
and suggested them to go back because they had had
safe security in Iraq, therefore police started to
arrest and incarcerated refugees and deported them
summarily. Karim Tujali, Khaled Shawghi, … when
received IM paper from branch of UNHCR in Van;
police captured them and handed them over to their
persecutor in Islamic Regime at 1998 and they
executed by hanging on 2002.
In one operation police arrested 20 Refugees from
this group and deported them immediately to Iranian
border on 2003, and in another pronged attack,
police arrested and penitenteried 53 refugees whom
they participated in peaceful demonstration to
receive transparency from UNHCR's decision and
consider their position at the same year.
UNHCR branch of Turkey accepted this group as
Refugee at 2004 and subsequently facilitated them to
transfer to Anadolian cities.
At first was deemed that this changes go forward and
pave resettlement, but unluckily all of these hopes,
wasted our breath.
Hither to we have had gatherings opposite UNHCR's
gate in Ankara to attract International attention to
our critical situation but unfortunately UN in
collusion with police raided the gatherings and
delivered them to Court, for instance, 25 refugees
from this group delivered to Court in Aksaray – 200
km from capital—because they participated in the
complaints.
Furthermore they have to refer to police station for
their daily signature and police should check them
up every day and refugees haven't permit to earn
money for their life or working, however UN refused
them as financial assistance.
Last week when one of refugee in Kaiseri couldn't
present at on time to introduce himself to police
station; police arrested him and wildly raided and
mugged him.
Therefore we request you to pressure upon general
Office of UN in Geneva and branch of UN in Ankara
to:
· end up their punishment and discrimination
policies against this undefend group.
· Condemn the Turkish strict behavior against this
group and permit them to immigrate through Turkey to
third country.
· Help this group and give them monthly aids because
refugees, in fact, are in need.
· Record this group's position in public and relate
what is the obstacle to consider their position.
