-- Kurdish officials have threatened to withdraw
from the Iraqi government if it does not amend its
political program, an Arab newspaper reported
Monday.
The London-based al-Hayat daily quoted Kurdish
parliament members as saying they may pull out of
the government if Prime Minister Ibrahim Jaafari's
unilateral decisions continued.
National Assembly member Farid Rawandouzi of the
Patriotic Unity of Kurdistan told the Saudi-financed
paper he expects clashes with the government over
the latter's insistence on not amending its
political program and called on Jaafari to
reconsider his wrong trends.
Meanwhile, the paper also quoted Iraqi government
spokesman Laith Kubba as saying some armed groups
have contacted the Iraqi government to seek
negotiations on achieving peace.
