Deaths of Turkish Kurds remembered in Wexford 22.5.2005

A plaque has been unveiled in Co Wexford in memory of eight Turkish Kurds, who suffocated in a container
nearly three-and-a-half years ago, as they tried to seek asylum.

Relatives of the dead, who included four children, attended this afternoon's ceremony.

The victims, along with five survivors, had been hidden in a container in the Belgian port of Zeebrugee, but died
during the 53-hour journey to Ireland.
