Baghdad, Iraq, May. 19 (UPI) -- Iraqi President
Jalal Talabani headed to northern Iraq to settle
differences with his Kurdish rival Massoud Barzani
over ruling the province of Kurdistan.
An official source said Thursday Talabani will be
holding talks with Barzani "to put order back into
the Kurdish house."
"The talks will focus on differences which emerged
between Talabani's Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and
Barzani's Kurdistan Democratic Party over local laws
in Kurdistan," said the source who spoke on
condition of anonymity.
He said differences between the two rival Kurdish
leaders led to postponing the inauguration of the
new Kurdish parliament for several months.
"The talks will be aimed at settling the differences
once and for all and fixing a date for the
parliament's inauguration," the source added.
