The
Kurds did have a president in a "Middle Eastern
State" during the 20th century !
The first paragraph of the article:
Iraqi
Presidency but still a stateless Kurds written by
Goran Sadjadi, and posted on www.KurdishMedia.com ,
April 8, 2005, is in dire need to be corrected on a
major Kurdish historical point:
The Kurds DID have a president in the 20th century.
In fact they had a president for the Independent
Kurdistan in 1945-46 known as The Republic of
Mahabad, which WAS a Middle Eastern State of
Kurdistan.
This is an unfortunate incident created by a good
Kurdish youth groups writer, Goran Sadjadi, who
appears to make useful points in other areas of his
article.
His likely inadvertent error takes away and defuses
one of the greatest achievements by the Late Kurdish
martyr; President Ghazi Mohammad of the Republic of
Mahabad, who ruled between 1945-46 (toward the end
of the first half of the 20th century) in Eastern
Kurdistan.
Goran makes this error early in the article, which
discredits his own credibility on the rest of his
statements even if we give him some credit on the
following well put statements. I certainly hope he
uses more care in making references to critical
Kurdish history's turning points.
I also take this opportunity to object to one of FOX
TV NEWS statements by anchormen; Shepherd Smith, who
on behalf of FOX news announced something to the
effect that; Kurds were mostly peasants in their
history, when he reluctantly credited President
Jalal Talabani as being a Kurd a day after his
Victory as the first Kurdish President ever in the
history of Iraq.
The Kurds have had the longest advanced civilization
among all other nations in the past 12,000 year
history, including the Noahs Ark incident, landing
smack in the middle of Kurdistan mountainous region.
To learn about Kurdish Kings, chiefs, Presidents,
and other political figures please read great
historians work such as Dr. Mehrdad Izadys Kurdish
History books with website excerpts.
Many Kurds have been farmers and raised live stocks
in their homeland for thousands of years, but to
call them peasants based on this background, while
they have had their own Municipalities, Kingdoms,
and states throughout their long ancient history
does not take away their proud history. This is
purely a bigoted view Mr. Smith and his editor
should avoid depicting.
MAJOR TV NETWORKS appear to have gotten into a habit
of distorting the news and facts about KURDS and
their history. Fortunately this is still very rare,
but it is picking up pace, which would probably lead
to many law suits by Kurds and their supporters
among the international law activists. There is yet
a lot we must learn about the Kurds.
There's nothing more damaging than the few bigot
news editors with hidden agendas, employing their
newsroom reporters to make distorted comments on
facts, while reporting news related to the great
nation of Kurds. The Kurds deserve a lot better news
coverage and accurate viewpoints by the world media
rather than the business as usual in spreading
falsity for economic gains, paid by the corporate
world. This has got to come to a stop.
