ŞANLIURFA (DİHA) - Approximately 100.000 people coming together in the Newroz celebrations in Şanlıurfa say, "We greet the Leadership of Democratic Confederalism"; and former deputy of the abolished Democracy Party (DEP) Leyla Zana, addressing to Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan before the gigantic crowd, said, "Do not raise tension if you love this country. Do not cause the societies to stand against each other"

Some 100.000 attended the Newroz celebrations organized by Şanlıurfa Democracy Platform on Halepli Bahçe Meydanı (boulevard), Şanlıurfa, and the celebrations started with local bands' concerts performed after Chairman of the Newroz Arrangement Committee Yusuf Karataş's speech. To celebrations DEP former Deputies Leyla Zana, Orhan Doğan, Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's brother Mehmet Öcalan and his sister Fatma Öcalan, Democratic Society Movement (DTH) Coordination Member Feridun Yazar, Former President of the People's Democracy Party (HADEP) Murat Bozlak, DEHAP Deputy President Osman Özçelik and the mayors of Viranşehir and Suruç, Şanlıurfa attended .

'Öcalan's steps towards peace should be considered'

DEHAP Şanlıurfa Chairman Ahmet Dağtek said, Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan had been taking for peace have been left with no answer.

"May those who does not see your struggle for freedom come and see it", said DEHAP Deputy President Osman Özçelik.

Great interest to Zana and Öcalan

The participants of Newroz in Şanlıurfa, who opened the banners "Şanlıurfa greets the Leadership of Democratic Confederalism", "Dialog with Öcalan for peace", chanted slogans "Live long Leader Apo", "Greetings, greetings thousands of greetings to Imralı" and "Happy Newroz"; carried a great number of KONGRA-GEL flags, green-red-yellow colours and a map showing Kurdish cities. The great number of participants, that of women who wanted to shake hands with Leyla Zana and Fatma Öcalan, bring forth crush.

Zana: Do not augment tension

After greeting the people with Kurdish words, Zana continued her speech in Turkish and addressed to Chancellor Erdogan saying: "Erdogan says there is no Kurdish Question if not thought. Here, I am addressing to him; is there Kurd question or not. Do not raise tension if you love this country and do not cause the societies to come up against each other. Consider the peace and the democratic functioning of this country as essential. We do not have any problems with any one"

"We are not going to permit a violence environment"

The ruling administration has to notice that they are in power, and should not undervalue the people's volition, stating Zana said: "The Turkish Premier says there is no torture; whereas our women were tortured in the mid street. We will never allow our honour to be transgressed and also the violence environment. Some powers may want a war, but my people will not consent to this. We will allow one to have us abused"

Zana's speech won raves and great enthusiasm of the attendees chanting "Live long Leader Apo". The public's great interest to Zana became the cause of the second throng when Zana wanted to pass to the protocol. The celebration continued with singer Ferhat Tunç's concert.
