At the official
invitation on Texas Secretary of State, Mr. William
Rogers, delegations of Kurdish-American participated
and were honored in the official ceremony of taking
the oath of office of the leading Texas State
officials on March 12, 2007.
The ceremony was held in the “State Capitol”
building that house Texas government branches in the
capital of the state Texas, Austin. The ceremony was
attended by the governor of Texas, Rick Perry,
members of the Texas Supreme Court, members of the
state of Texas representatives in Washington, U.S.
ambassadors, and nearly 3000 members of the “who is
who” of politics and government in Texas and
America.
For the first time ever in the history of Texas,
members of the Kurdish community were honored as
heroes of Texas and America for helping the recent
democratic election in Iraq. There was a 2-minute
standing ovation when Mr. William Rogers introduced
Bakhtiar Dargali & Omer Barzani in honor of their
efforts for freedom. Mr. Rogers mentioned
extensively in his speech the story of Kurds how
they lived in the caves and how their life in
Saddam’s Iraq had been so miserable that U.S.
liberation of Iraq has been a noble effort for the
cause of freedom. He referred the Kurdish-Americans
as “my friends”
The story of the Kurds in Dallas has made such big
impression on Mr. Williams that now he keeps a
picture of the flags of Kurdistan and America in the
office of the Secretary of State in Austin. Bakhtiar
Dargali had given the picture to him earlier this
year. Mr. Rogers also has in his office a wall rug
made in Kurdistan, which was given to him by members
of the Kurdish community.
Mr. Williams is a star of the Republican Party in
America as well as in the state of Texas. He might
someday become president of the United States. The
Kurdish people by cultivating friendships like that
will insure that justice of the people of
Kurdistan’s cause will be heard in all quarters,
including in the power houses from sole super power
in the world, the United States of America.
March 12, 2005 was a great days for the cause
Kurdish people. It requires many more days like this
so the sacred cause of Kurdistan can be well known
and addressed properly. Kurdish Americans scored a
point in the art of public relations and in the
service of Kurdayateey.
