Turkey's
Minister of Justice Cemil Cicek, who answered the
notice of a question by Antalya Deputy of Republican
People's Party (CHP) Osman Ozcan, pointed out the
maintenance, repair and staff training of the ship
Turkish Maritime Lines allocated for Kurdish
People's Leader Abdullah Ocalan's attorneys 5 months
ago to provide them with transportation between
Gemlik and Imrali Island has been going on.
After Yasar Buyukanit, commander of the Turkish Land
Forces, made statements that "by means of his
attorneys, Abdullah Ocalan is carrying on managing
the organization from Imrali, and Imrali is more
comfortable than Damascus", the Antalya Deputy of
Republican People's Party (CHP), Osman Ozcan gave a
notice of guest ion. The motion asking whether the
Tuzla ship was assigned to Ocalan's lawyers to move
more easily requested Prime Minister Recep Tayyip
Erdogan to reply to.
The Turkish Minister of Justice, responding the
motion because of Chancellor Erdogan's being abroad,
said that on Sep.23, 2004, the Tuzla vessel owned by
Turkish Marine Lines Fleet was devoted free of money
by decree of Privatization Supreme Board in order to
procure transportation when weather conditions are
not appropriate, but reminded that the maintenance
and repair of the ship has been keeping on to make
it seaworthy to be able to sail in every weather
condition.
The officials do not make any declarations
Meanwhile, although 5 months have been passed since
the Tuzla was dedicated, the maintenance and repair
have not finished and none of the authorized
officials has held any statement on the matter. In
spite of the fact that Article 152 of the regulation
concerning Penal Execution Institutions and Jails'
Administration enables detainees and prisoners to
interview with their attorneys once a week, the
lawyers of Ocalan cannot to pass across to Imrali
Island to talk to their client.
