Gendarmerie intervention wounds 4 people
4 individuals who set out for a press declaration to
be held in Siirt were wounded as a result of
gendarmerie intervention and taken to hospital.
A crowded group setting out from Batman and
Diyarbakir to attend the press declaration which
will be held in Siirt in the scope of campaign "We
won't allow the war" stopped at the Başur
Gendarmerie Search Point. A discussion happened
between the group and gendarmerie; hereupon, the
latter interfered with the former and wounded 4
people.
Member of Peace Mothers's Initiative Nezahat Teke,
Dicle Chairman of Democratic People's Party (DEHAP)
Necmettin Aykutbay, Semih Tuncer of DEHAP's
Diyarbakir Office and Şukran Erkek were sent to
Siirt State Hospital after the uproar. The
militaries frisked the stopped people showing the
search warrant taken from the Siirt Court of General
Criminal Jurisdiction.
Extensive security measurements taken due to the
press statement which will be held in Siirt drew
attention greatly.
