A Russian tourist has disappear in Kurdistan 18.2.2005
Kurd Net Reports

A young tourist from Russia, Vladimir Belinsky, arrived to Kurdistan-Iraq from Turkey. Then he travelled to Mousl city, on 2.01.2005 he was arrested in Mosul city and transported to Sulaimaniya city and put at prison.

He was suspicion for connections to Al Qaida terrorist organization as he spoke Russian and he may have connection to Chechens Islam groups, then after several days they let them go free, he left Sulaimaniya to Hewler city. He discovers that his passport has been lost, so he stays in Kurdistan without any ID, and he can’t leave Kurdistan without a travel document.

Vladimir Belinsky

He wrote on January 15 that he is going to find Russian Consulate for passport matters.

After 15.January, nobody heard from him and his parents are very scared for his safety. He may left Kurdistan to other unsafe part of IRAQ.

As his family told Kurd Net, Vladimir Belinsky is a Russian citizen. He is originally from central Russia, town Ozersk (Chelyabinsk Region). He is not a Muslim. He travels in such places because of his interest in history and culture. Recently he traveled alone in Tajikistan, including Pamir Mountains.

His family are trying to find contacts of Kurdistan officials, to help to find “Vladimir”, but they couldn't find a source where they can ask.

No one knows where he is at the moment, if you have any information about “Vladimir Belinsky”, please contact us. Or contact his family at (Email removed) - “Vladislav”
