AMSTERDAM, Feb 8 (Reuters) - A Dutch magistrate
has extended the custody of six suspected Kurdish
guerrillas by three months after their arrest in a
November raid on what prosecutors believe was a
training camp preparing for attacks on Turkey.
In a pre-trial hearing in Rotterdam, the court
ordered their continued extension due to the gravity
of the charges. The court will consider the case of
another 10 suspects on Wednesday, a court
spokeswoman said.
The European Union classifies the PKK, or Kurdistan
Workers Party, as a terrorist organisation. The
party has fought for 20 years for a Kurdish homeland
in southeast Turkey, a conflict that has killed more
than 30,000 people, mostly ethnic Kurds.
The six are among 38 suspected PKK militants held in
a raid on the training camp. All 38 are still under
suspicion but some have been provisionally released.
Police seized night vision equipment, instructions,
passports and a gun in the raid.
