BAGHDAD, Feb 17 (AFP) - 14h43 - The main
coalition of Shiite parties has secured 140 seats in
the new Iraqi parliament, followed by a Kurdish with
75 and and the list of interim premier Iyad Allawi
with 40, the electoral commission announced
Thursday.
The commission confirmed the makeup of the new
National Assembly after studying complaints lodged
after uncertified final results were announced on
Sunday.
Twelve parties will be represented in the 275-member
parliament.
