Erbil, Kurdistan-Iraq (DIHA) - While author
Yazar Orhan Pamuk is being tried for his thoughts to
three-year imprisonment, there is another 'Pamuk
scandal' in Erbil. Erbil Court has sentenced
Instructor Dr. Kemal Seid Qadir to 30-year
imprisonment because he criticised Barzani family.
International Law Expert, University instructor and
Austria citizen Dr. Kemal Seid Qadir, about whom
nothing has been heard about for 2 months, has
turned out to be under arrest in a custody centre in
Erbil.
Qadir, who was rushed to court, was accused of
'showing lack of respect to Barzani family and his
fight'. The court gave a verdict that Qadir wrote
'improper' things and so commited a crime and
sentenced him to 30-year imprisonment. Qadir, wrote
in a letter he wrote that he was arrested by an
armed group in Erbil on 23rd October and that he did
not know why he was arrested. |
