Kirkuk,
Kurdistan-Iraq, Dec 2 - A member from the Turkish
black-op intelligence agency JITEM, wearing an Iraqi
Turkmen Front ID card, was arrested by Iraqi
security forces in the city of Kirkuk four days ago.
"The Turkish intelligence is conducting operations
with the help of the Iraqi Turkmen Front. The latest
person we have arrested has been traveling back and
forth to Tel Afar a couple of times," an official
from the security forces in Kirkuk said.
The official declined to go into further details,
but said that the arrested agent had entered
southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) through the Xabur
(Khabur) border gate together with five other
Turkish military agents. Their first stop had been
Kanimasi, according to the official.
The official said that the Turkish National
Intelligence Agency (MIT) was active in Zaxo (Zakho),
Kanimasi, Batufa, Bamerni, Amediye (Amadiya), Diyana
and Suleymani (Sulaymaniyah) while the Turkish
military intelligence agencies were active in Mosul
and Kirkuk.
