LONDON, Dec. 24 - Next year's Marivan
Street Theater Festival will be an international
event, the executive secretary of the festival
announced, MNA said.
Due to the popularity of street theater in recent
years, Iranian officials decided to make the
festival international, Rashid Mahmudi said.
The 1st Marivan Street Theater Festival opened on
December 21 in Marivan city, Kurdistan Province
(Kurdistan-Iran).
Although theater troupes from Armenia, Germany, and
Iraq expressed interest in participating in this
year?s festival, Iran could not make arrangements
due to insufficient funding, he added.
Twenty groups from several provinces, including
Mazandaran, Kerman, Kermanshah, Bushehr, Zanjan, and
Hamedan, are participating in the four-day festival.
Eighteen groups will be selected to take part in the
Fajr International Theater Festival.
