Istanbul - The
Turkish Flyair private airlines decided to be the
first Turkish transport company to organize regular
flights to Iraqi Kurdistan, as of the 6th of next
month.
Flyair general manager Kaya Numaller said to AFP,
"There is great demand; therefore we decided to run
regular flights."
He pointed out that his company would run a flight
from Istanbul, where the company is based, to Erbil,
the administrative capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, which
is 350 km north of Baghdad. On the 14th of the same
month, it would most probably run another flight to
Al Sulaimaniyah city near the borders with Iran to a
third country that he did not specify.
The general manager of the company said that he is
waiting for a permit from the Iraqi civil aviation
authorities to run al Sulaimaniyah line. During the
first stage, it is supposed to run two-way flights,
twice a week.
Numaller said that the company would use Embraer 145
for Erbil line and an M.D-83 for Al Sulaimaniyah
line.
