ISTANBUL, Nov 22
(AFP) - 17h32 - A suspected Kurdish rebel wounded in
an attack in Istanbul last week has died from his
injuries, the Turkish news agency Anatolia reported
Tuesday, citing hospital sources.
The attack late Friday which Turkish authorities
have blamed on the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK)
has left two people dead and 11 others injured,
according to Anatolia.
A bomb in a trash can exploded near a bus stop close
to an amusement park, in the neighbourhood of
Beylikduzu on the west bank of the Turkish capital.
The city governor Muammer Guler pointed to the PKK
which authorities say is responsible for several
explosions originating in dustbins over the past few
months.
The PKK, blacklisted as a terrorist group by Ankara,
the European Union and the United States, called off
a five-year unilateral ceasefire in June 2004 and
has stepped up actions in the predominantly Kurdish
southeast of the country.
