PUK regional leader wounded in suicide
attack

Kirkuk, Kurdistan (Iraq) - A senior Iraqi police
officer was seriously wounded Tuesday in a suicide
bomb attack carried out by a child believed to be
just 13 years of age.
The child, who was wearing an explosive belt,
attacked Col. Khatab Rash of the Kirkuk police, and
his driver, police said.
Rash, who is also a regional leader with the
Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), and two
bodyguards were seriously injured in the attack.
Two roadside bombs also exploded in Kirkuk, the
police chief Brigadier Burhan Habib said. The first,
in a neighbourhood south of the city, injured two
policemen and the second east of the city injured
three soldiers.
