The Kurdish boy shot by Turkish police is buried
HATAY 4.Oct (DIHA) - Killed by the police
officers during the demonstration in Bağcılar,
Istanbul, Atilla Geçmiş has been buried in his home
town in Hatay. Security officers did not let the
press enter in to the town.
Atilla, whose father is a police officer as well,
had been shot by the police officers in a conflict
broken up on Sunday while a group of youngsters was
chanting slogans in favor of the Kurdish leader
Abdullah Ocalan. His corpse was taken from the
Forensic Medicine in Istanbul to be taken to his
home town, Kırıkhan in southern province Hatay.
While his family and relatives buried the corpse,
some of the relatives had nervous breakdowns.
The relatives frequently keened in Kurdish during
the funeral ceremony. Making a speech after the
burial, his uncle Ömer Gemici said: "My nephew was
not a member of any organization. He was murdered.
During the event, he was not bearing any gun or
knife or something harming. Those responsible have
to be found and punished."
Meanwhile, hearing that there are many people coming
from the neighboring cities to attend the funeral,
the security officers searched those coming and did
not let the reporters in to the Kırıkhan County.
Soldiers in ski mask in the Kurdish village
HAKKARI 4.Oct (DIHA) - Settled in a Kurdish
village called Altınsu in southeastern province
Hakkari, Soldiers using ski masks are investigating
the villagers which distract them.
According to the information obtained from the local
sources, many soldiers using ski masks and having
painted their faces were situated in the
countryside. The soldiers started to keep guard in
the village. They are stopping the cars entering
into the village to check them. The villagers are
complaining about the searches.
Meanwhile, the soldiers raided some houses in
another Kurdish village called Günyazı.
