DIYARBAKIR,
Kurdistan (Turkey), Oct 28 (AFP) - A bomb ripped
through an office building in Turkey's mainly
Kurdish southeastern province of Hakkari, causing
damage but no casualties, local security sources
said Friday.
Police suspect the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party
(PKK) to be behind the explosion, but have not
confirmed this.
The bomb went off overnight on the fifth floor of
the building in the town of Yuksekova, which lies
close to the Iraqi and Iranian borders, shattering
the windows of many offices.
The PKK, considered a terrorist group by Ankara, the
United States and the European Union, is active in
the region and has been blamed for similar attacks
in the past.
The rebels, who took up arms for Kurdish self-rule
in the southeast in 1984 in a conflict which has
claimed more than 37,000 lives, called off a
six-week unilateral ceasefire with Ankara earlier
this month.
