The trial of Saddam
Hussein and his top aides has been the focus of the
media in Iraq's Kurdish north, with both stations,
the Kurdistan Satellite TV and KurdSat, broadcasting
documentary films narrating the 24-year long story
of the former Iraqi president and the "appalling
crimes he had committed against the Iraqi people and
humanity".
The Kurdistan Democratic Party, KDP-run Kurdistan
Satellite TV broadcast a documentary programme in
Arabic to highlight the crimes Saddam Hussein and
his aides had committed against the Iraqi people,
particularly those against the Kurdish people such
as the chemical bombardment of the town of Halabjah
and the Anfal campaign it said was responsible for
disappearance and killing of nearly 182,000 Kurds
and destruction of more than 4,000 Kurdish villages.
It also mentioned in depth the wars the former
